Successful cases require a certain degree of preplanning, but struggling is not uncommon due to the amount of work that goes into planning. At The Dental Lab, we recognize that the dental industry is always changing. With more advanced technology can come more complex treatments, new methodologies for implementation, and a higher focus on providing a premium patient experience. That is why we are proud to offer you and your practice pretreatment case planning.
What is Case Planning?
Case planning is allowing a trained technical staff member to manage each step of your dental case. From troubleshooting, to combination cases, to material selection, a manager takes over these tasks for you to plan a logical and practical process to follow. Case planning allows dentists to maximize chair time and profitability, improve lab results, and, most of all, exceed the expectations of their patients while reducing frustrations.
With the competitiveness of today’s elective cosmetic dentistry, it’s not enough to just understand facial aesthetics, but it’s vital to handle them with a multidisciplinary approach. A knowledgeable case planner can make the difference between admissible and extraordinary results.
Meet David Drag
At The Dental Lab, we leverage the expertise of our technicians along with our Removable Manager, David Drag. David has been working in the dental lab industry for over forty years. He began his career in 1980 and started his own dental lab in 1989 called Bite Rite Dental Lab. He specialized in premium, high-quality restorations and cultivated a reputation as a leader in his industry for his ability to provide expert consulting services.
When he sold his business in 2014 and began to work at The Dental Lab, we were excited for David to bring his immense expertise to our client base. He has steadily carved a niche in our dental lab as the point person for some of our most complex and detailed cases. David has an amazing ability to put you at ease and make what may seem overwhelming appear manageable.
Of working with David, our client of ten years Dr. Bunin, said, “I am a Prosthodontist with over 38 years of experience. For the past 10 years or so, [The Dental Lab] has become my main go-to lab for my cases. From dentures, partials, and single crown units on natural teeth or implants to full mouth reconstruction, I have been pleased with their workmanship, quality, and care. David Drag personally, has stood behind each case I’ve sent him. Trust me when I say that it is invaluable to have a knowledgeable lab technician available to be able to contact with any question or concern; especially with planning to completion of larger complex cases.”
How Can Case Planning at The Dental Lab Benefit You?
1. Maximize your chair time. Working with an experienced dental lab technician to consult and preplan patient treatment is genuinely invaluable. You can set clear expectations from the moment you begin your case and instill confidence in your patient by providing them with clear treatment options.
2. Define logistics of case completion. Between insurance, the timeline for treatments, finances, and going over proper protocol and procedures–that’s a lot to manage alone. Having someone that can provide you with individualized support can help you stay on track and ensure profitability on your case, reduce frustrations, and help you deliver treatment in a timely manner.
3. Individualized support. Support from our dental lab does not stop with preplanning your patient’s treatment. If you need a question answered or need guidance until your case is completed our lab is here to walk with you every step of the way. Furthermore, The Dental Lab is here to offer you the consultation and support that you need in order to not only meet your patient’s expectations and deliver outstanding treatment but to also exceed them. We want you to utilize your chair-side time to create the best possible experience and taking the time to complete pretreatment planning with our lab can help you achieve this goal. In addition, we are here to provide guidance throughout your case, not just prior to treatment.
What Makes The Dental Lab Different from Other Labs?
Case planning is a wonderful way for you to manage the intricacies of complex cases. That way you can set realistic expectations for your patient, confidently deliver exceptional care, and problem-solve any potential barriers with your case prior to them becoming a problem. David Drag’s level of expertise and background provides dentists and their patients with simplicity and ease when it comes to case planning. He knows all the different steps and the proper protocol for every type of complaint case. More importantly, he is willing to provide the time and care no matter what the level of support required is. Whether a dentist needs someone chairside, or just for the fabrication of certain parts, David is available.
