The process of creating customized dentures has been completely transformed in recent years, and The Dental Lab has been on the front lines, leading the charge. Thanks to digital technology, we can fabricate a pair of dentures using Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), ending up with amazing removable restorations at a fraction of the cost and in much less time. THE DENTAL LAB AND 360CARE: A PARTNERSHIP BUILT ON PROGRESSThe Dental Lab has been chosen as a preferred dental lab for 360Care, and we couldn’t be prouder. 360Care has positively impacted the lives of older adults in thousands of senior care communities across the nation, and they are continually working to improve the level of clinical care and auxiliary services available to these citizens. 360Care dental staff has been trained to provide comprehensive dental services to the geriatric population. They utilize state-of-the-art equipment and technology to perform exams, thorough cleanings, simple extractions, fillings, and take diagnostic quality digital x-rays. In addition, their staff also provides the most common denture or partial services. Like our team here at the Lab, 360Care values progress and making a positive impact on people. Together, we seek new ways to streamline the denture fabrication process, which in turn will enhance the quality of life for countless seniors at what can be a difficult time in their lives. Advancements in digital denture fabrication will give seniors quicker access to vital care and treatment that will positively impact their quality of life. TWO-STEP BITE/IMPRESSION360Care unveiled its initial pilot program for its Two-Step Bite/Impression Process, which implements a digital workflow that reduces chair time for both patients and dentists. In as little as five days, this workflow can produce digitally-made dentures and give a patient a customized dental restoration that dramatically improves their life without any extra hassle. For the first time, using this digital workflow, we can provide the older adult population with prompt denture solutions that achieve the required clinically acceptable fit and are comfortable to wear. As mentioned earlier, the 360Care protocol allows for an unprecedented quick turnaround of approximately five lab working days. Here are a few reasons the process is so effective in such a short time: It utilizes new technology based on Computer-Aided Design, Computer-Aided Manufacturing, and 3-D printing; The information needed to design the denture is captured in a single visit and stored in digital format; The process allows for the fabrication of an extremely precise and accurate denture; The process requires just one or two patient visits; Patients typically spend less than 60 total minutes in the chair; The initial impression/bite process takes only about 30 minutes; The entire process is not as labor-intensive for the laboratory staff. Another great feature of the Two-Step Bite/Impression Process is that all digital data collected from a patient can be easily stored and retained for use in the future. To either fabricate a spare denture or a replacement in a matter of days or to quickly and efficiently modify a previous denture, the data can easily be retrieved. How Can The Dental Lab Help?Along with 360Care, we’re on a mission to introduce these innovations to dental professionals in our region and beyond, and to forever change the way seniors look at the denture fabrication process.
